Synthese critique de la caracterisation electrochimique de zeolithes et d'aluminophosphates chimiquement modifies
Article Abstract:
Zeolites that have been modified by incorporation of transition metal complexes into their porous network and molecular sieves modified by incorporation of transition metals have led to numerous applications of which the most widespread is no doubt catalysis, but the catalytic activity of the compounds is not well understood. Evidence for encapsulation efficiency of complexes in the zeolites and about location of transition metals in molecular sieves is lacking. The unsatisfactory electrochemical accessibility of intrazeolitic or framework species has been demonstrated. Different means of promoting the electroactivity of the molecular materials are discussed. Original article is in French with both French and English abstracts.

Synthesis of a new class of difunctional tetraphenylene crown ethers
Article Abstract:
Two substituted tetraphenylene crown ethers never before made have been synthesized using (1 + 1) cyclization of methyl 3,5-bis(omega-chloro(oligoethyleneoxy)) benzoates with methyl 3,5bis(omega-(p-hydroxyphenoxy)(oligoethyleneoxy))benzoates with K2CO3 as base and tetrabutylammonium iodide as a phase transfer agent in dimethylformamide. A third 30-membered one had to be made using alkylation of p-benzyloxyphenol and hydrogenolysis with a Pd/C catalyst. There was weak complexation of one of the macrocycles with a paraquat derivative based on NMR spectroscopy observations.
