Thermodynamics of calixarene chemistry
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to quantitatively examine the selective behavior of calixarenes and their derivatives for a particular guest relative to others in a given solvent at a given temperature. Cations, anions and neutral species were studied in different reaction media. The importance of solute-solvent interactions involving reactants and product were demonstrated in the thermodynamic parameters of transfer of the macrocycle, the guest and the resulting complex between two solvents.

Phase behavior of polymers in supercritical fluid solvents
Article Abstract:
Several studies have been carried out to examine the phase behavior of polymers in supercritical fluid solvents. Experimental results have significantly advanced scientists' understanding of supercritical fluids. They have shown that carbon dioxide supports both polar and nonpolar properties. In addition, findings have shown that fluorinating a hydrocarbon polymer can enhance its solubility in supercritical carbon dioxide.
