Thiacalixarenes
Article Abstract:
An overview of the growth of the chemistry of thiacalixarenes by comparison with that of the methylene-bridged counterparts, in which stress will be put on their reactivity, molecular recognition ability and potential for host molecules, is presented. The findings reveal that thiacalix[n]arenes and their derivatives have high affinity to various metal ions by virtue of the coordination of the bridging groups which frequently assemble to form multinuclear complexes using many ligating sites and are very hopeful candidates for obtaining high-performance catalysts for organic transformation.

Allosteric supramolecular receptors and catalysts
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to identify the molecular design criteria and structural requirements for supramolecular allosteric systems and to indicate how strong allosteric effects can be achieved, corresponding to ON and OFF switching. The design of allosteric systems opens the possibility of controlling molecular function by external chemical input, as widely observed in biomolecular recognition and catalysis.

Polar acetalization and transacetalization in the gas phase: The Eberlin reaction
Article Abstract:
The large body of work published on the Eberlin acetalization and transacetalization reactions and related gas phase ion/molecule reactions is highlighted. The reaction has been found to occur for many classes of amphoteric cations with dual Lewis acidity and basicity with cyclic acetals, diols, and related compounds.
