An awesome programming primer

Article Abstract:

The act of programming follows a logical process that provides rules and steps which help developers abandon all preconceived apprehensions. Initially, developers must plan all projects thoroughly. It would be beneficial for programmers to devise flow charts that provide structures for their programs. Without structure, programmers will invariably become lost in coding. Programs move in a linear flow unless forced to do otherwise. In order to maintain this simple logic flow, developers should use reusable modules. These subroutines also eliminate redundancy whenever a segment of logic is reused. Developers should keep in mind, however, that variables can be used later in statements that resemble math calculations. Programmers must always annotate their code with useful information that guides both them and others through their logic. This logic will achieve maximum performance levels only if it is kept functional and concise.

An elegant interface design

Article Abstract:

Organizing content is an important part of multimedia design strategy. The designer should not put too many items on the screen or use too many screens, or the final product may be too confusing. A sample user interface shell or CD-ROMs shows how to use Macromedia Director to create an attractive standard interface. The shell includes standard elements of most productions and is useful for several different categories of titles. The solutions are especially useful for adding hierarchical navigation facilities to a title. The introductory screen is a variation of a hierarchical menu. It shows five buttons to the left of the main screen to represent major topics. Near the bottom are Quit and Help icons, and underneath is a space for logos and other graphics.

The keys to video superimposition

Article Abstract:

Video superimposition employs keying and matting techniques to enable designers and artists to mask. When using masking techniques, users should always first establish the A and B video tracks using the Premiere software program. Simple keying is commonly done in garbage matte in which a superimposed image is cropped so the background shows around the edges. When creating simple garbage mattes, Premiere will automatically create an Alpha channel. Depending on an Alpha channel setting, black areas are made transparent. Premiere will also accept more sophisticated alpha channels from Photoshop or Painter.
