Ubiquitous business video: any screen, anywhere, anytime
Article Abstract:
Streaming video formats, such as the MPEG standard, RealNetworks' RealVideo and Microsoft's ASF files, taken together with technologies such as dedicated video servers running on high-speed corporate networks, are bringing a powerful platform for business communications into existence. The trend is being encouraged by the appearance of tools that make it easier and more affordable to acquire video and work with it, and by an overall convergence of the communications infrastructure, which means digitized audio and video can be accessed via data networks. Typical streaming media business applications include multicasting of messages to employees, networked training, videoconferencing, and using the Web to communicate with business partners or with customers.

Solutions for your video resolutions
Article Abstract:
What will be needed to implement networked video on an organization's network will depend on what is needed in that particular circumstance. Although no single solution or architecture will work for all situations, some general guidelines apply. For example, streaming media brings with it a fundamental requirement that packets arrive at their destination within a critical timing window. IP-compatibility throughout the network is another basic requirement. Managers should configure their networks in a way that leaves room for growth.
