CTX EzBook 764MT: a good deal all-around
Article Abstract:
CTX International's $2,499 EzBook 764MT Pentium-based notebook computer is a comfortable, full-featured machine designed for multimedia users. The product ships with a 150MHz Pentium MMX processor, 40MB of RAM, a 20-speed CD-ROM drive, a 1.7GB hard disk drive and nickel-metal hydride battery, which offers 90 minutes of usage. The EzBook's 12.1-in active matrix LCD is sharp and clear, but it produces a maximum of 800x600 pixels. The keyboard includes a Windows key and is spacious, springy and responsive. The touchpad's outsized buttons are located across the systems' bottom edge, giving users increased flexibility. The product's power management tools are accessible through the BIOS, but there are combinations that trigger Standby and Sleep.

CTX EzBook 760MT: aggressively priced MMX machine
Article Abstract:
CTX's EzBook 760MT is a solidly performing, attractively priced MMX-based notebook computer that suffers from a few minor quality-control problems. A $2,999 configuration comes with a 166MHz Pentium MMX processor, 16MB of RAM, 1.3GB hard disk, six-speed CD-ROM drive, NiMH battery, 12.1-in active-matrix display, 16-bit sound card, built-in speakers, Windows 95, MS-Plus, ClarisWorks. Both the keyboard and the two-button touch pad are quite comfortable and quiet. Unfortunately, the AC adapter tends to slide unexpectedly out of its jack, the rubber pads on the EzBook's underside tend to stick to a desktop, the plastic doors on the various ports tend to pop off and the user manual is a bit skimpy. The Qtronix gamepad is difficult to set up.
