Compaq service will continue on SSP channel course
Article Abstract:
Compaq Computer Corp is acquiring high-end hardware specialist Tandem. Analysts believe that the acquisition may accelerate Compaq's shift to a services-oriented company. However, officials at Compaq declare that the firm is continuing with its System Service Provider program which provides support to business customers indirectly using a system of certified third-party providers. The acquisition would bring 500 professional services consultants from Tandem and a services revenue of $600 million in 1996.
