Designing for the next Web
Article Abstract:
The main complaint of Web designers is that systems are incompatible. The battle between Microsoft and Netscape over browsers has led to slowing in the work of Web designers. The development and maintenance of alternate versions of software has proved to be a major inconvenience. Web designers are also upset with over-hyped technologies. Continual false promises from public relations firms have made developers decide to not put their clients in jeopardy by relying on one technology. Dynamic Hyper Text Markup Language, or DHTML, is a combination of JavaScript, regular HTML, CSS, and new code. The language offers exciting interactivity including rollover buttons, animations, and responsive charts to the Web without the user having to click for the server to deliver a new page. Java applications, called applets, are launched from a server instead of a local hard drive, and can operate on any platform. CSS level 1 spec provides crucial typography control such as color, size, and spacing.

Help! I need somebody!
Article Abstract:
Digital-media businesses can take several steps to draw qualified freelance help despite the present low unemployment rates. First, companies can expand their searches at all times, even when no positions are presently open. Second, most companies prefer job networking to secure talent. Among the most popular and creative methods are word of mouth, employee and business referrals, job fairs and consultation of specialized employment agencies. Third, employers should conduct extensive reference checks and determine a candidate's role in previous projects. Fourth, businesses should anticipate paying 25% to 50% more in wages to freelancers, who take responsibility for medical insurance and other personal expenses. Compensation frequently covers an assignment and the anticipated number of hours for completion. Most deals consist of all-rights contracts for companies, in which they establish complete freedom to use their products.
