Digital asset management - your next key technology investment
Article Abstract:
Digital asset management (DAM) technology is about to be the next key IT investment for most companies. Digital media and content are assets that determine the productivity of a company and its value. The ability to locate assets on demand is crucial to businesses. DAM solutions eliminate time wasted in locating documents, squelch redundancy in various operational areas and enable costs savings from the planned reuse of content across projects. Greater productivity and profitability can be achieved when appropriate DAM solutions are used to efficiently systematize workflow and other practices. DAM also facilitates the convergence of communications and content, enabling businesses to interact more effectively with their customers.

Article Abstract:
Corporations are increasingly employing computer-telephone integration (telephony) technologies as networks become mission-critical. Part of the effort is an attempt to leverage the costs of information systems and assure maximum efficiency as well as the return on investment. IP departments are rapidly integrating their networks with the Internet through the use of the IP protocol. The Internet enables companies to employ electronic commerce as well as improving customer service. Telephony employs circuit-switching technologies to deliver voice data. Improvements in IP packet switching have led to better voice quality, while new compression technologies have improved the quality of video.

A sight and sound investment
Article Abstract:
Play's Trinity graphics board platform is making it possible for JPM Productions, a small firm that creates disaster training materials, simulations, and special effects, to bring its video production process in house. For a cost of $60,000 the Georgia-based company was able to set up a production system featuring the Trinity and a range of equipment including Canon and Panasonic camcorders, audio mixers and amplifiers, and a Windows NT-based system. With Trinity, the company is able to produce videos in a fraction of the time and at considerably less cost than they required when video production tasks were being outsourced.
