GDC Services steps away from OEM parent

GDC Service, the services unit of General DataComm Industries (GDC), is changing its name as a first step towards operating as an independent business. It will operate as a GDC subsidiary and will be called Vital Network Services. In addition to services such as multivendor network design, installation, implementation, on-site maintenance, remote monitoring, training and phone support, Vital Network Services will also provide professional and consulting services to its customers.

Network professionals call out for professional growth
Article Abstract:
Many computer network support professionals are dissatisfied with their jobs, according to a survey by International Network Services. The survey found 44% of the respondents to be either 'very unsatisfied' or 'somewhat unsatisfied' with their current positions. Nearly 20% complained of the lack of opportunities and a slightly smaller percentage expressed dissatisfaction with professional growth opportunities.
