In-House Computer Crime
Article Abstract:
A member survey conducted by Comp-U-Fax, the newsletter of the Data Processing Management Association (DPMA), found that over the past three years, twenty-one percent of computer crime abuses occurred in the workplace and only two percent of the crimes were committed by outsiders. The survey revealed that most of the perpetrators were DP-MIS employees and that most abuses were discovered accidentally, rather than by security personnel. Forty-nine percent of the respondents cited misuse of computer service as the biggest category of computer abuse. DPMA members surveyed felt personal computers are the one main threat to their systems.

The Computer Slump - What's Really behind It?
Article Abstract:
Factors behind the so-called computer slump are incompatiibility and the inability to prove the cost effectiveness of computers. Manufacturers have been preoccupied with selling equipment rather than trying meet user needs. Managers are often resistent to the benefits of computers with the result that equipment is sometimes underutilized. The advent of new superchips may change this state of affairs by allowing the computer industry to make computers more user friendly and powerful.
