Plugging into the Public Telephone Network
Article Abstract:
There are many types of equipment that are connected to the telephone network in Japan. The current telephone network consists of telephone consoles of various sizes, electronic key telephones, speakerphones, plug-in extension phones for home, PBX, facsimile terminals and data communications terminals. Telecommunications provide the basis for versatile communication links that carry many kinds of messages, including computer data, text and images. Various products offer tremendous information-manipulation possibilities such as videotex, teletext, display terminals for personal computers, data telephones, printer telephones, facsimile networks, home terminal systems and advanced information communication systems. Emphasis is being placed on software to enable the user to easily select and operate different functions.
