Rapid Growth Brings Disk Drive Makers to Critical Supply- Demand Balance

Article Abstract:

The increased demand for floppy disk drives, combined with their limited supply, has resulted in the increase and expansion of product production. Manufacturers' production of these drives is expected to increase more than fifty per cent for this year. Applications for personal computers have contributed to this growth. The appearance of minifloppy and microfloppy drives in the three-inch range is creating additional competition for manufacturers. Technological advancements are providing for higher densities and larger capacities. Tables listing various disk drive models appear in the article.
