Robots, Automation and Spray Painting
Article Abstract:
A robot is a computer-controlled machine of specialist design. Spray painting is a major application to be handled by robots with the typical six axis motion. Facts, economic analysis and contribution to profitability are business decisions to be rendered when purchasing a computer-controlled robot. A simple system may decrease manual labor. To actually increase productivity, a major microprocessor controlled robot may be needed. Robot arm movement can now simulate human movement when painting. A photograph illustrates the robot movement.

British Lead in Robot-Based Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing
Article Abstract:
Beecham and Taylor Hitac have developed the first robot-based manufacturing system for pharmaceuticals. The plant should be in operation by the middle of 1985. A computer-controlled robot unit is housed in a sterile room; it directs other robots involved in product packaging, thus avoiding the inevitable problem of human contamination. Taylor Hitac's pharmaceutical manufacturing systems may also be applied to surgery and treatment.

Spray Painting Robot
Article Abstract:
G&C Robot Systems developed a robotic spray painting system. Human-like arm movements can apply the paint to domestic appliances or automotive and aerospace applications. Proven hydraulics and solid state electronics are the robot's basis. A lightweight teaching arm provides the programming technique.
