Systems in Action
Article Abstract:
Word processing and data processing have been integrated into an information system network at GE's Small AC (SAC) Motors division in Nashville. Building on its Honeywell DPS 440 mainframe connected to Level-6 small computers at other plants, SAC installed VDT workstations and letter quality printers in several of its departments and an Infowriter in the personnel department, all part of the shared-logic system. The decentralization was well received. Applications include strategic plan development and standards for product design.
