The need for disciplined credit management is a problem that all companies must enforce in order to stay solvent and keep their cash flow at a high level. This latest recession has caused an increase in the number of business failures due to a number of reasons including lax credit controls. To avoid this problem one should stay informed about the ability of customers to meet their bills, be firm in adhering to the company's collection procedures and make sure these policies are followed by all accounting personnel. Reducing this risk has been a major factor for a number of companies that have survived this recession.

Intelligent Credit Cards Have Built-In Chips

Toppan Printing Co. and the Tokyo Magnetic Printing Co. have jointly developed the IC Chip-in-Card. The IC, which is built into the card, combines a microprocessor with memory. It increases the volume of information and provides data handling functions. Applications include checks, credit, ID cards, telephone cards, passports, hotel and club cards. There is a photograph of the IC Chip-in-Card.
