A new dimension
Article Abstract:
There is growing emphasis on 3D intelligent modelling in the UK construction industry, with a shift away from the use of the 2D CAD system. Software firms supplying the construction industry are beginning to offer solutions that permit collaborative working and 3D object modelling. Bentley Systems, for example, has the MicroStation Triforma system, which allows structural engineers to model in 3D. There is a possibility that cost engineers will be replaced by software systems that manage project costs for contractors.
