Builders need to change their dealings with subcontractors if they aim to achieve total quality management in their projects. They should treat subcontractors as partners who have the same goals and establish a continuous cooperative association with all parties involved in the construction process. Quality management entails a client-oriented approach and an effort to constantly improve productivity and efficiency. It also requires builders to instill quality methods and principles in their employees, encourage communication and involvement and emphasize high standards in workmanship.
