BOAT/U.S. wins appeal against towing company
Article Abstract:
The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld a 1998 decision by District Court Judge Kenneth L. Ryskamp that Florida-based Sea Tow Palm Beach used the 'BOAT/U.S.' trademark of the Boat Owners Assn of the US without consent. The appellate court also upheld the lower court's order that Sea Tow Palm Beach and its affiliates stop representing themselves as towers licensed by the association. BOAT/U.S. Exec VP William Oakerson hailed the ruling, noting that it would put an end to some of the anarchy going on over marine airwaves.
