Firms need more space to expand

Some 28% of UK companies are planning to increase their property holdings, with 25% expecting to reduce them, according to a survey of 660 companies undertaken by the CBI. It has become common for companies to seek to expand but be unable to find suitable accommodation. It is believed that many companies are seeking brand-new space, but there has been little development over recent years.

Prospects brighten at Norwest Holst
Article Abstract:
Contracting concern Norwest Holst saw pre-tax losses of 9.9 million pounds sterling in 1995, from 22.3 million pounds sterling in 1994. Turnover rose by 4%. The company hopes to be close to returning to profit in 1996. It is looking at the possibility of establishing stronger links with project management concern Symonds, which, like Norwest, is owned by French utilities concern SGE.
