Builder wins settlement under 1990 copyright law
Article Abstract:
The US District Court in New Jersey ruled in favor of a builder who cited an another builder's infringement on the copyrights of his house design. The Value Group Inc Pres Andrew B. Abramson filed the case when he learned that his competitor had filed a building permit using plans and drawings derived from his original design. The evidence established the company's ownership of the original plans and the court cited the 1990 copyright law which mandates automatic protection for intellectual property. The court awarded Abramson the case and ordered the construction be halted until alterations are made subject to abramson's approval.

Over, under, sideways, down: with interest rates, does it matter?
Article Abstract:
Economist and Aubrey G. Lanston and Co Exec VP David Jones believes that the improvement in interest rates is clearly a Bush-influenced recovery since the improvements happened even before Clinton took oath. This analysis is contrary to the suggestion that Pres Clinton's budget proposal is responsible for the 20-year low in mortgage interest rates. In late April, an upsurge in interest rates was noted which led to fears of inflation. Commerce Dept reports at the end of April, however, assuaged any fears of inflation as interest rates remained at their 20-year lows.
