Building on the assembly line
Article Abstract:
The construction taskforce headed by Sir John Egan believes that lean production methods could play a key role in boosting the efficiency of the UK construction industry. This view is not shared in the construction industry, which feels that it has already been too extensively criticized. The Construction Industry Board Good Practice Panel welcomes the fact that priority is being given to cooperation as a way of reducing waste, but still has reservations about how the construction taskforce's recommendations are actually going to be implemented.
