Can you manage it?
Article Abstract:
Project managers in the UK construction industry must be given time to become fully familiar with the client's needs before large sums of money are committed. The project manager must question the client, and should recommend alternatives if the client's brief is not satisfactory. It is also vital for the project manager to express the client's needs in a way the design team and construction company can understand. Only after this phase can the client reasonably expect the project manager to assume responsibility for ensuring that the design meets its needs.

Why Honda's 'Ode to Joy' should matter to you
Article Abstract:
The construction industry could pick up valuable lessons in customer relations from the car sector. With the Egan report on the construction industry calling for a commitment to people, Honda's mantra of The Three Joys: the joy of buying, the joy of selling and the joy of creating, could be adopted successfully in the construction industry and produce a spirit of teamwork and customer commitment that it currently lacks.
