Chip card based loyalty program boosts Dutch retailer
Article Abstract:
Edah, a Netherlands-based supermarket chain, reports that it has enlisted 1.5 million members of a loyalty program based on chip cards that make personalized offers everytime a customer enters a store. A special computer program, called MarketEXPERT, selects 10 personal offers and five generic offers, and defines a particular group of customers for every offer every week. The offers are reportedly based on information about the customer's buying habits collected at the checkout counter.
