Article Abstract:
The British Housing Bill, which was set up to encourage private ownership, has created a lack of confidence in housing association bond prices. Clauses 41-48 of the bill are set out to provide the Housing Corporation with the ability to sell housing association assets at rates which could mean that the lender would suffer financially. The issue was raised by the Labour party, and is now seen as a political risk. The bond investments are long-term and are not expected to suffer from the lack of confidence.

Article Abstract:
UK social housing investment would be better spent helping people to move away from deprived areas rather than improving housing which would not be financially viable, according to the Housing Corporation chairman Brenda Dean. Inner city properties may sell for up to 35,000 pounds sterling despite having had 50,000 pounds sterling spent on improvements. UK housing policy regulations have been designed to ensure the needs of disabled people are taken into account by housebuilders.

Article Abstract:
Housing Corporation chairman Sir Brian Pearse shocked officials at the Department of the Environment by severely criticising the government for cutting social housing programme funding by 365 million pounds sterling. Pearse, who may step down from his position, says the government's policy will drastically impact the plight of the homeless. He believes that health, crime prevention and education programs will also be affected.
