Civic Trust Awards
Article Abstract:
The Civic Trust Awards have been presented to acknowledge high standards in architectural design throughout the UK, since 1960. Some 19 awards, 55 commendations and 29 mentions were awarded in 1999. Recipients of awards included major and small projects and encompassed both new and very old buildings. Some well known companies have sponsored eight special awards. The judges panel consisted of a range of experts in the field of design, the environment and access for the disabled. A full list of the winners of the Civic Trust Awards, for 1999, is included in the supplement.

Aluminium imagination awards
Article Abstract:
The UK Aluminium Imagination Awards were presented in London, UK on Jun 3, 1993. The awards were chaired by the UK architect Sir Norman Foster. The first prize of 10,000 pounds sterling was awarded to the Queen's Stand at Epsom Racecourse which was opened on Jun 3, 1992. Aluminium was chosen as there was a need for a low-maintenance, easy to clean building. The shapemaker's award of 1,000 pounds sterling was won by Aspect 2 in London. The TSB pavilion was highly commended. It is designed as a mobile bank and can be transported on a 13 metre trailer.
