Peer pressure needed to regenerate inner cities
Article Abstract:
The UK Housing Land and Urban Development Bill will create the URA (Urban Regeneration Agency.) The URA will offer building developers land acquisition through compulsory purchase, planning powers and finance. The main problem is how the URA will function along with all the many different public sector intitatives, such as the Urban Programme and the Urban Development Corporations.

Article Abstract:
The Urban Villages Forum published its original report in 1992 encouraging mixed-use developments and called on the government to earmark specific areas for urban villages. The forum believes that a mixed-use development must be large enough to support several uses and amenities, but small enough for all buildings to be within walking distances.
