DM network agencies in Germany
Article Abstract:
German direct marketing agencies have met the challenge of the Internet by establishing independent online subsidiaries and management consulting divisions. For instance, Hamburg's Heine Rapp Collins has spun off its Internet unit into an independent unit called Collins Interactive, with 30 people developing online and offline concepts for clients. For Mathias Quadflieg, managing director of Frankfurt's Impiric, the overlap on the Web between communications and distribution channels has given Internet consulting a different value and weight.

Germany to loosen regulatory climate to boost e-business
Article Abstract:
Germany is creating a legislative climate to support Internet and electronic commerce and make direct marketing easier to practice in the country. The government has also proposed legislation that will adapt EU's data protection directive into German law. Germany has already allowed comparative advertising but requires comparisons to be substantive, relevant and provable. The country is also revising a 1997 law on digital signatures, which would put them on the same level as handwritten signatures.

German DM agencies booming, but lack talent
Article Abstract:
German direct marketing (DM) and interactive agencies are booming from the popularity of the Internet, driven largely by the heavy spending of Internet startup companies. A recent survey done the German association of advertising agencies showed that 43% of its members have gained huge experience dealing with dot-com companies. However, the German DM industry also has its share of problems, mainly from the absence of qualified personnel to do Internet work.
