Doing it for themselves
Article Abstract:
Project Managers within the construction industry are using information technology (IT) more readily in the 1990s, because they have found that the computing staff who have traditionally been used do not have the necessary building work expertise. Some IT departments have been removed from organisations as a result of this changing philosophy, although many feel that a core level of IT expertise should remain within the organisation.

Marriage guidance: like marriage, mergers and takeovers are relationships that have to be negotiated with skill and for the right reasons
Article Abstract:
Modern mergers in the construction industry are difficult to broker and potential partners often seek an alliance for the wrong reasons. Acquisitions can be hindered by a lack of cash and raising money on the stock market is difficult due to the City's poor view of the construction sector. When planning an alliance a company should seek a partner that fits its business strategy.
