Article Abstract:

The management system used by architects Abbey Hanson Rowe have been integrated to allow all of the 150 workers, in four different locations, to be to exchange information via a database. Partner Peter Oborn saw the need for the company to use new technology in order to become more competitive. The company invested 80,000 pounds sterling in technological equipment in 1996 and intends to make a similar investment during 1977. The new system can fulfill a variety of tasks, such as, holding information on clients and contracts, allocate work and can be used to organize and prompt staff.

Article Abstract:

The UK government's private finance initiative (PFI) currently allows the holder of the PFI contract to provide all hospital services except clinical services. However, in many cases it is unclear which services are clinical and which are not. This has led public services union Unison to express concern, and some observers fear that a successful PFI bidder may eventually even be employing doctors and nurses.
