Esprit searches its stores for models

Esprit de Corp., based in San Francisco, CA, has launched a catalog model search as the main event of the company's 30th anniversary celebrations. One of the reasons for the model search is that it builds excitement for the company's catalog, which was re-introduced in October 1997. Five grand-prize winners will be awarded a trip to San Francisco to be photographed for Esprit's spring 1999 catalog, while 25 additional winners will given prizes that range from Hewlett-Packard personal computers to Mongoose mountain bikes. The search began on May 2, 1998 in Esprit stores in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, and Littleton, CO. The whole model search will be conducted at 18 locations throughout the US and Puerto Rico.

Gillette hopes its first DM campaign for women will give it an edge

Gillette Co. of Boston, MA, is launching its first direct marketing campaign for its products aimed for women. The company will mail one million female shaving product sampling kits as part of Gillette's integrated media campaign, which includes television and print ads. The 1 million sampling kits are meant to attract users of disposable razor to choose Gillette's SensorExcel. The company will send the kits to women in Columbus, OH; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ; and St. Louis, MO. The kits will also be distributed to high schools in 10 cities throughout the US.

Po'Boys serves DM to help expansion
Article Abstract:
Famous Antone's Po'Boys & Deli, the 30-year-old Houston, TX, restaurant chain, is dropping mails announcing new store openings and offering specials on meals. The mailings is reportedly a part of a major campaign aimed at reviving the image of the chain as well as create excitement for its rapid expansion throughout the US. The mailers features a picture of the sandwich wrapping and the tag line " There's a Po'Boy in Your Neighborhood." The campaign also includes in-store posters that appears like old newspapers recalling the history of the restaurant.
