Article Abstract:
The Philips Speechmike digital dictation suite is made up of a dictation unit for recording and a transcription unit for converting speech into text. The dictation unit is connected to a PC through a free serial port and an inbuilt soundcard. The software emulates a conventional tape dictation unit, and speech can be easily reviewed. As the speech is recorded on to the hard drive, the user is able to insert and delete parts of the speech through controls on the handset. The dictation unit is more expensive than an ordinary tape system, while the transcription unit costs around the same as a good tape-based system.

Article Abstract:
Pathfinder for Windows is a multi-user project management reporting tool which can also act as a collection and co-ordination program for other data. It can create bar charts within the program and it also has a document register, and is available pre-configured with several ready to use reports. It would be more useful in quantity surveying rather than project management.
