Lord Rogers' urban revolution
Article Abstract:
The UK government's urban taskforce, headed by Lord Rogers, has issued an interim report in which it makes recommendations designed to counteract the decline of city centres. This report calls for urban design to be promoted as a career option, for a more rapid planning process and for changes to value added tax regulations to assist brownfield development. It indicates that the first area on which attention should be focused is the development of an urban design structure covering the whole country.
