Interpublic to buy True North for $2.1 B

Article Abstract:

The Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG) is buying True North Communications for $2.1 billion in stock, a deal that would create the world's largest marketing communications network. IPG will exchange 1.14 shares for each share of True North, which has 51 milion outstanding shares. The acquisition would allow IPG to overtake WPP Group PLC, as the world's biggest agency holding company. The purchase of True North would also allow IPG to own FCB Worldwide as well as other smaller agencies, such as Temerlin McClain, Tierney Communications and TN Media.

eBay soon to own all of fixed-price site Half.com

Article Abstract:

eBay.com will acquire online fixed-price retailer Half.com in exchange for 4.6 to 5.5 million of its shares. The acquisition, announced in mid-Jun 2000, is expected to expand the buying and selling options available to eBay users by another 250,000 users and over 4 million items. Half.com, which opened in Jan 2000, is expected to retain its own identity after the conclusion of the purchase agreement in 3rd qtr 2000.
