Italian yellow pages looks to expand

Seat PG, a yellow page directory company in Italy, has acquired a French database firm and a UK directory publisher and taken a 40% stake in a UK Internent trading platform. The French company, Consodata, specializes in collecting opt-in information on consumer habits and has data on 25 million European consumers. Thomson Directories was acquired when Seat PG bought TDL Infomedia Ltd. Seat PG invested $150 million to obtain a 40% stake in Mondus. The company is also planning to merge with TIN.it, an Italian Internet service provider.

AdLINK no.2 in Web ad sales in Austria

AdLINK has purchased Austria Online to become the second largest Web advertising company in the country. AdLINK has also added eight new sites from the UK, Spain, France and Germany to its portfolio to expand its pan- European reach to 11 countries. The acquisition was made possible through an asset deal with parent Austria.com. It gave AdLINK's page impressions in Austria a 35% boost to 97 million monthly.

WPP sees Italian Web boom
Article Abstract:
WPP Group, a global advertising giant, has taken a 4% stake in Inferentia SpA, an e-business consulting and services company based in Milan, Italy. The transaction, which was worth $7 million, was made a day after WPP's initial public offering (IPO) on the Borsa Italiana in Aug 2000 and is intended to strengthen WPP's interactive capability around the world. The WPP IPO raised about $180 million.
