Medical publisher in touch with cancer patients

PRR Inc., a Melville, NY-based medical publisher that specializes in information on cancer prevention and treatment, intends to venture into the consumer magazine arena in 2000 with the debut of InTouch. InTouch is the new bi-monthly consumer publication that will target patients and families who seek reliable information on cancer. The company will send out over 500,000 business reply cards for the new magazine starting November 1998. Promotions at cancer conferences and health fairs and displays in physician offices will also be part of the publication's marketing campaign. Donations will be given for each subscription generated by cancer centers and organizations that tout InTouch in their mailings, newsletters and Web sites.

The product, which is called the Gift Services Engine, is being touted as an electronic-commerce application that is capable of promoting gift purchases for any Web site. Gifted Solutions announced that the software is already being used by 13 merchant sites.

The software allows companies to track the visitors who peruse their Web sites, enabling them to analyze the data to create better ways to hold custmer traffic, attract users and market their products.
