Microsoft alters sender ID to gain support from AOL

Microsoft has revised its Sender ID, an e-mail authentication technology due to the concerns raised by AOL. The submitted Sender ID specifications have to be approved by the Internet Engineering Task Force following the claims of patent and licensing requirements by Microsoft.
