Upstart hopes virtual Olympics get it off and running

Internet start-up GamesMagnet.com launched a promotional campaign called Virtual Athlete to attract visistors to its website. The campaign offers Net-savvy fans of the Olympics a $100,000 prize and hundreds of smaller prizes should they win in its online races that include 100-, 200- and 300-meter dashes, 110-meter hurdles and 4x100-meter relay. The game allows users to pick from among 40 types of virtual Olympics runners which they can train and give a workout plan.

Yahoo strikes deal with BarnesandNoble.com
Article Abstract:
Yahoo is entering into a partnership agreement with BarnesandNoble.com. The decision comes in the wake of Yahoo's termination of its smaller agreement wtih Amazon.com. The deal calls for BarnesandNoble.com to become the suggested book vendor of Yahoo. In addition, it will have premium placement on various Yahoo pages, which include Yahoo Shopping. The transaction also calls for the two companies to team on direct marketing promotions.
