Nappy hour: children, once disqualifying entry into Britain's pubs, are becoming an entry requirement in a new generation of family pubs with toddlers' play areas and baby-chaning rooms
Article Abstract:
Whitbread, a brewer, is investing 85 million pounds sterling to revolutionise the Traditional Family Pub. It is providing separate fun rooms for children which are monitored by trained staff. Two version of the Brewer's Fayre family pub style units are described. The juniors' area is similar to an indoor funfair or playground, but the area designed for the under-fours was found to be disappointing, designed like a mini-pub, with televisions playing cartoons and noisy electric toys.

Hotel reservations
Article Abstract:
The four-star Regents Plaza hotel in north-west London is the first new-build hotel in the capital for some 10 years. The building, constructed by Gainstride and designed by John Seifert Architects, with interior design by EAA International, cost 35 million pounds sterling, but its design is uninspiring and unimaginative. The concept is innovative, with a hotel, a cafe, a health club and managed apartments, but the external and internal design lacks interest and individuality.

New bricks and panties
Article Abstract:
The new residential housing tower block Winterton House in London, UK, cost nine million pounds sterling to reconstruct. Its dilapidated, panelled cladding with damaged steel frame has been replaced with a complete external brick surround to strengthen the building and remodel its appearance. It took over two years to build and has 23 floors and 136 flats. Each flat has a practical, but unimaginative, design. The building has a common area and garden.
