New CEO calls 2001 a pivotal year for OMC
Article Abstract:
Outboard Marine Corp's (OMC) new CEO Roger Fix intends to spark the struggling boatbuilder's long-awaited turnaround in 2001. OMC, which is the second-largest boat and engine builder in the US, has experienced a series of setbacks since its change of ownership in 1997. Fix noted that OMC's major problems regarding third-party supplier failures and an order backlog have been resolved. He also said that the low-emission FICHT engine technology that was the source of the company's problems in 1999 has become one of its major strengths.
