Regulatory group debuts mail effort
Article Abstract:
A consumer education campaign has been launched by various government agencies against fraudulent direct marketers and spammers. The campaign called "Catch the Bandit in Your Mailbox" has put together by the Federal Trade Commission, the US Postal Inspection Service, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the National Assn of Attorneys General. However, the campaign was criticized by the direct marketing industry because it does not differentiate between legitimate businesses and fraudulent operations.

First-class mailers consider bulk mail
Article Abstract:
A US Postal Service proposal allowing bulk First-Class mailers such as insurance firms and banks to send direct marketing mail or invoices with drop-ship discounts is being considered by the mailing industry. PricewaterhouseCoopers, a management consultancy firm, was hired by the USPS to study whether mailers would use a drop-ship discount for First- Class mail entered at Sectional Center facilities.
