Road Runner scores with sports bra campaign
Article Abstract:
Road Runner Sports of San Diego, CA, has reported a 6,300% increase in sales of athletic bras following an e-mail marketing campaign that was launched after the US women soccer team's World Cup victory over China. The company sent around 100,000 e-mails promoting the use of Champion athletic bras on July 12, two days after Brandi Chastain took off her shirt and exposed her black bras following her winning penalty goal. The e-mails linked recipients to www.roadrunner.com where Road Runner operates an online store.

Article Abstract:
Foods Market Inc. of Austin, TX, is launching an online food store, www.wholefoods.com, to target the company's well-educated, upscale customers. The retailer hopes to begin seeing profits from its online operations within two years, even if it would mean cannibalizing the company's traditional customer base. Indeed, the online grocery will sell food items at prices lower than those found in the company's traditional stores.
