Swell job
Article Abstract:
Packham Lucas have developed a rehydration system for the treatment of subsidence in buildings. Boreholes are drilled into the ground and water is injected through the bore holes. The new system has been tested on six buildings. Some 375 million pounds sterling was spent on subsidence claims in 1998 by insurance firms. Subsidence is caused by the combination of houses being built on clay and trees being planted nearby. Houses with subsidence have to be underpinned and sometimes rebuilt.
