Teender/building cost forecast
Article Abstract:
The quarterly survey of building costs and prices shows tender prices have fallen by 2.4% in the 1st half, 1992. Tender prices are expected to remain low for the remainder of the year despite an increase in orders for public works. A 3.4% increase in building costs occurred in the same period, largely due to wage settlements of over 2.5%. Costs are expected to continue to increase at 2% in the next year. Mechanical and electrical costs also rose while prices are expected to fall further. The trend was apparent in all regions of the UK with local firms facing competition from outsiders.
