The Tyne has turned
Article Abstract:
The Tyne and Wear Development Corporation, Newcastle, United Kingdom has spent over one billion pounds sterling on developing ten areas along the Tyne and Wear rivers. Each area comprises about 80-120 ha of land with over 1-2 km of frontage onto the river. The aim of the project was to rejuvenate the area which had suffered from closure of the shipyards and violence in the 1980s. The new projects include the construction of areas for light industry, business parks and houses. A further 90 million pounds sterling will be spent to complete the project by the year 2000.

Band practice
Article Abstract:
The employees of the architectural firm HLM who play in the band Sweeping Up After Eric find that music is an ideal way of relieving stress. The band, which also includes one person who does not work for HLM, mirrors the relaxed, egalitarian management style of HLM. Its members are close friends who enjoy both working together and spending their leisure time together. They particularly enjoy playing 1960s music, as this influenced them greatly in their youth.
