Youth cultured
Article Abstract:
Niall Phillips Architects carried out design work on a 3 million pounds sterling project to refurbish the Youth Hostel Association's (YHA) hostel in the City of London. The scheme has reduced the capacity of the hostel, with smaller rooms replacing dormitories and more shower and toilet facilities being installed to meet current environmental health standards. The facility now has a staircase at each end, giving better fire escape provision, and a new gas-fired central heating system has been installed. The origins of the building are also discussed.
