The Gap expands service into same-day delivery
Article Abstract:
Gap, a casual clothes retailer, is reportedly testing a same-day delivery service similar to that of a pizzeria, through 1-877-Gap-To-Go in New York and the Hamptons in Long Island. The program prompts customers to call or fax orders, or to place orders via www.gap.com. Calls are routed to a centralized Manhattan office and answered by a live sales agent. The orders are processed for delivery within one- or two-hour service time and are handled by a courier service. Payments could either be made through American Express, Discover, Master Card or Visa. Gap's current menu features about 20 items, from backpacks to shirts and boxers.

Time Warner, Kessler blast TV drug ads
Article Abstract:
Time Warner Inc., in cooperation with former FDA chairman Dr. David Kessler, has released a survey that concluded that print advertising was a more effective communication medium than television when advertising drugs. The study, titled DC '98: Consumer and Physician Attitudes Toward Direct-to-Consumer Advertising," cited television as the No. 1 medium in establishing awareness while both television and print were regarded equal in inducing consumers to act. Physicians who were surveyed also favored magazines, with 49% of them saying the medium provides consumers a better forum for the major statements of side effects.
