W.W. Grainger's stock slumps to five-year low

The stock value of Chicago, IL-based electrical equipment suppplier W.W. Grainger Inc declined sharply in Jun 2000 after the firm requested two prominent stock analysts to lower their 2nd qtr 2000 and full-year 2000 projections for the company. Grainger opined that these projections were too high based on its profitability estimates for the year. The analysts removed Grainger from their list of recommended 'buy' stocks in Jun 2000. Grainger itself did not issue any warnings to the public about its earnings for 2nd qtr 2000 and FY 2000.

OrderZone.com, an online catalog of business supplies, has dropped 650,000 solo mail pieces in the first phase of a huge business-to-business direct mail campaign. The $10 million campaign is being handled by Grainger Internet Commerce of Vernon Hills, IL. In addition to the mailing, the campaign includes banner ads, online sponsorships, direct response print campaign and e-mail marketing.

Bank of America boosts Web presence with mailing

Bank of America Corp, based in Charlotte, NC, is boosting Internet response via a direct mail in summer 1999. Aside from traditional means, prospects can respond to the mailing by visiting microsites that feature personal greetings and customized marketing messages.
