Whatever happened to the Millennium Village of the 1970s?
Article Abstract:
A deterioration of community spirit has affected the architecturally-designed Byker Housing estate in Newcastle, UK, due mainly to a lack of committment to the estate from residents. Over 2200 houses and flats were built at the Byker Housing estate, designed by UK architect Ralph Erskine during the 1970s. Residents blame a lack of social facilities for problems with local teenagers, although most people are pleased with the design and construction of their houses.
