Article Abstract:
Kajima UK Engineering were very keen to discover exactly what their client, Asda PLC, wanted for its new superstore in Swansea, Wales. Kajima took 15 weeks to build the superstore which cost 11.5 million pounds sterling. By using modular units and constantly reviewing productivity the building work was able to proceed more rapidly than a similar store which took 26 weeks to complete. University of Reading, England, Department of Construction Management and Engineering Head Colin Gray pointed out Kajima were able to build the superstore so quickly because they adopted new ways of working.
